First Day of Classes

Welcome back, students! 

Get ready to embark on an exciting journey as we kick off the 2026-2027 school year with enthusiasm and anticipation. Check out the fantastic resources and exciting information below to gear up for an unforgettable academic adventure!

The first day of the 2026-2027 school year for Grade 6 and Grade 7 students is Monday, August 31.  These students will enjoy a BBQ lunch (vegetarian or beef burgers, a drink, and chips) and among other welcoming activities, will have tours of the school(s) and school grounds to settle them to their new surroundings.  All Grade 6 and 7 students will meet in Annie Gale’s gym for an 8:00 a.m. start.  TLC students will be escorted to their homeroom classrooms housed at Colonel J. Fred Scott School by their homeroom teachers.  TLC students should be in formal uniforms.  Students in Grades 8 and 9 will NOT attend school on August 31.

Grade 8 and Grade 9 students’ first day is Tuesday, September 1.  Class lists will be posted near the front of the school, and students will be directed to their homeroom classes.

Parents/Guardians:

Please have these supplies for your students by the first day of school:

  • 12 or more pencils 
  • 1 scientific calculator
  • 3 erasers
  • 2 binders
  • dividers
  • lined paper
  • 1 lined notebook
  • 1 grid notebook (for math)
  • 1 ruler
  • 2 glue sticks
  • 1 pair of scissors
  • 1 package of coloured pencils
  • 2 highlighters
  • 2 sharpies / fine liners
  • 1 pencil sharpener
  • 1 pencil case to hold these supplies
  • Gym strip: appropriate running shoes, change of shirt, change of bottoms (shorts, sweat pants, or joggers)

Throughout the year, students may be asked to provide some basic art/craft materials for projects. Individual teachers will advise students in advance of these projects.
