Happy Sunday, Grizzly families!
Congratulations to Ms. Bumstead and our TLC band students on a successful concert last Thursday! Their practice paid off in dividends—the skill demonstrated by our students was a point of pride for all who attended. Thanks go to Mr. Barisow as well—my voice wasn’t working well, and he took the reins to lead the audience in their appreciation of good jokes.
Ask your child about the outcome of the Teachers vs. Students basketball game held on Friday. Great fun was had in an amazing competition between our senior teams and the teachers. It was a wonderful way to end the week.
CONNECTING HOME AND SCHOOL: My messages home over the last few weeks have focused on social media. This week I thought I would share some more information via a website provided by the federal government. Check out mediasmarts.ca and look at the information under the “For Parents” tab for more information.
Did you know?
- NEW: We have many new lunch clubs up and running. Students can check the monitor in the foyer for the information about the days and times for each club. Some of our current clubs include D&D, Fitness, Anime, Chess, and Art. Clubs provide our students an opportunity to try new things and potentially find a new passion, meet other students in other grades, have some fun, exercise and have something enjoyable to do on a cold day.
- NEW: Fun Lunch in December has been postponed. Please watch updates for a January Fun Lunch.
- NEW: Our lost and found bin is full! If the contents of the bin are not claimed prior to Winter Break, items will be donated. The lost and found bin has a variety of clothing items, including winter coats, shoes, as well as reusable bottles and food containers. Please remind your child to check the bin for missing or lost items.
- REPEAT: As you know, we ask parents and guardians to refrain from using our parking lot for dropping off or picking up students. This is, first and foremost, for student safety and it also allows our staff members to access their assigned spots throughout the entire workday, regardless of the time of day. Please don’t assume that if a parking spot is empty, it is not needed. In winter, we add another reason to stay out of the parking lot— it is not always plowed, and throughout the winter, despite being asked not to use our parking lot, parents get stuck. Please stay out of the Annie Gale parking lot.
- REPEAT: The Success Centre is up and running on Wednesdays and Thursdays thanks to Ms. Nakamura, who will be working with small groups on literacy and numeracy support.
- REPEAT: Annie Gale has surpassed its goal on the amount of waste our school produces. This is, in part, because of the efforts of families and students who choose to send food in reusable containers, and from our efforts to recycle and use the compost bins. Congratulations, Grizzlies!
- REPEAT: Our next council meeting date will be in January; there will be no December meeting.
