Important Year-End Information

Happy Thursday, Grizzly Families!

Last night we held our last council meeting of the year, which was also a snack potluck and our Annual General Meeting.  Our thanks go to those that are leaving Council—their efforts have certainly made a difference for all students here at Annie Gale.  There will be many opportunities for your involvement next year, if you are not on the executive.  Watch for my Sunday messages regarding next year's meetings.  The first council meeting of the next school year will be Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 6:15 p.m.

Here are the new council members:

Chair - Laurel Hatch

Vice-Chair - Sameer Pandey

Treasurer - Kal Sidhu

Secretary - Crystal Bassett

Fundraising Coordinator - Jenn Lagace

Key Communicator - Sameer Pandey

The end of the school year is bittersweet for students and staff because we know that endings mean goodbyes to friends, families, teachers, and colleagues.  Besides saying goodbye to our Grade 9 students who are moving on to high school, we are also saying goodbye to some of our staff members who are moving on to new and exciting experiences. Those that are leaving us are:  Ms. Bumstead, Ms. El Jamal, Mr. Li, Ms. McLaughlin, and Ms. Ogi.  We wish them all the best and send our heartfelt thanks to them for all their efforts in support of our students and our school.

We are fortunate to be able to secure Ms. Belanger (math/science), Mr. Erickson (humanities), and Ms. Mackie (FSL until January) on staff again next year; they will be joined by new staff members Ms. Armstrong (school embedded guest teacher), Mrs. Dhaliwal (literacy support), Ms. Lafont (humanities), Mr. Rao (math/science), Ms. Salazar (humanities), and Ms. Wang (math/science).  They are excited about becoming Annie Gale Grizzlies and will meet you and our students in the fall.

The first day of the 2026-2027 school year for Grade 6 and Grade 7 students is Monday, August 31.  These students will enjoy a BBQ lunch (vegetarian or beef burgers, a drink, and chips) and among other welcoming activities, will have tours of the school(s) and school grounds to settle them to their new surroundings.  All Grade 6 and 7 students will meet in Annie Gale’s gym for an 8:00 a.m. start.  TLC students will be escorted to their homeroom classrooms housed at Colonel J. Fred Scott School by their homeroom teachers.  TLC students should be in formal uniforms.  Students in Grades 8 and 9 will NOT attend school on August 31.

Grade 8 and Grade 9 students’ first day is Tuesday, September 1.  Class lists will be posted near the front of the school, and students will be directed to their homeroom classes.

I wish you all a safe and happy summer!

Sincerely,

Tammy Quiring

(Proud) Principal
